Buford enters Tuesday’s big-time tilt at 14-0. Earlier in the day, the Wolves were ranked No. 1 in the latest edition of The Sporting News Top 25.

The Wolves seek to win their 15th state title in program history, having won all but one this century. They boast several players who have signed with Power 4 conference schools, including Georgia signees Tyriq Green (running back/defensive back) and Graham Houston (offensive lineman), as well as defensive end Dre Quinn (Ohio State) and running back Dylan McCoy (North Carolina State).

Buford reached the championship game after a 39-7 win in the semifinals against Valdosta.

As for Carrollton, the Trojans have moved up to No. 2 in the latest Sporting News Top 25 rankings. Like Buford, Carrollton is also 14-0 on the season.

With a win, Carrollton will claim its eighth state title in program history, but the first in this century.

The Trojans also feature several Power 4 signees such as offensive and defensive lineman Zykie Helton and receiver Ryan Mosley (both with Georgia) and linebacker C.J. Gamble (Georgia Tech).

In its semifinal game, Carrollton posted a 48-21 win against North Gwinnett.

This will be the fifth time the Wolves have squared off with the Trojans. Buford holds a 3-1 edge in the series, although Carrollton won the last contest between the two, 30-17, in last season’s 6A semifinals.

In addition, this is also the first time in 10 years there will be a Georgia state championship game with two undefeated teams in the highest classification of the GHSA. The Wolves and the Trojans are also the two winningest programs in the state in the past five seasons (Carrollton has 65 wins, Buford with 62).

And now, it’s finally showtime in Atlanta for the 6A championship.
