Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie reportedly met with A.J. Brown to talk about his frustration with team's offense
A.J. Brown' rants finally caught the attention of Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie.
Philadelphia Eagles wideout A.J. Brown has made it clear many times that he's not happy with the team's offense. Brown previously made that point with cryptic social-media posts, but he broke from that protocol before Week 11, publicly questioning the Eagles' offense after a narrow win in Week 10.
The Eagles managed just 10 points in that win over the Green Bay Packers, prompting Brown to once again call out the team's struggling offense. This time, however, Brown's rant caught the attention of Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie, who met with Brown for 10 minutes during practice to hash out his issues, according to ESPN.
During the meeting, which was facilitated by Eagles security chief Dom DiSandro, Brown reportedly promised to stop complaining about the team on social media. Brown said he wants to be a part of the offense and is frustrated.
Lurie reportedly told Brown he did not need to apologize for his frustration. The pair hugged after the chat, a sign that there's no bad blood between Brown and Lurie.
Following the Eagles' Week 10 win, Brown said he feels as though the team's offense has underachieved, and that the Eagles' defense has bailed them out multiple times.
You can’t just keep slapping a Band-Aid over it and expect to win later in the year and think you can go to it later in the year,” Brown said of the Eagles' offense Wednesday. “It’s not gonna f***ing happen. It’s not gonna happen."
After ranking seventh in points scored last season, the Eagles sit 12th in that metric in 2025.
Brown's comments weren't necessarily controversial. In fact, running back Saquon Barkley agreed with Brown's assessment, saying the star wideout was "not saying anything wrong." But Brown's repeated comments this year likely led to his meeting with Lurie.
Brown hasn't put up his usual numbers this season. Through eight games, Brown has 31 catches for 408 yards and three touchdowns. He's on pace to finish the season with under 1,000 receiving yards for the first time since 2021. That would be a highly-disappointing result for one of the best receivers in the NFL.
There's still plenty of time for the team's offense to get back on track, especially considering the team went through a similar issue last season. After averaging 22.3 points in their first six games last year, the Eagles upped that to 29.9 points per game the rest of the way. The team rode that improvement all the way to the Super Bowl, where it dropped 40 points on the Kansas City Chiefs to win it all.
Whether the Eagles have another surge in them could determine their chances of another deep playoff run. At 7-2, Philadelphia is well-positioned to make the playoffs, but need to prove they still have the firepower to put points on the board when elite quarterbacks start coming to town.
