Evaluating the Jaguars 2025 NFL draft picks
Looking at how the Jaguars 2025 NFL draft class will fit on the roster

The Jacksonville Jaguars decided the 2025 NFL draft was going to be their opportunity to make the improvements needed to put their roster on par with the rest of the powers in the AFC and follow up 2024 with another offensive playmaker to help out franchise quarterback Trevor Lawrence. Overall, we weren't impressed with the Jags' draft haul in terms of impact. It's hard to argue with their move to go up and get wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter. Let's take a look at how all the picks fit on the Jacksonville roster this season.
First round - CB/WR Travis Hunter
First off, we believe Hunter was drafted to play wide receiver. While we appreciate Hunter's college exploits as an iron man on both sides of the football, we don't think he's going to see significant snaps on defense this season or any season. Hunter's value to the Jaguars will be working with Brian Thomas Jr. to carve up secondaries and make life easier for Lawrence.
Third round - CB Caleb Ransaw
We felt like Ransaw's NFL future was at safety prior to the draft and we are sticking to that. The Jaguars are fairly set with Darnell Savage and Eric Murray but Ransaw should provide some depth.
Third round - OL Wyatt Milum
After bringing in four interior offensive linemen in free agency, the pick of Milum came as a surprise. He's a solid developmental prospect and a typical hard-nosed West Virginia lineman but he's going to get lost on the depth chart.
Fourth round - RB Bhayshul Tuten
Tuten was the darling of the pre-draft process because of his ridiculous measurables and athleticism, but it's his ball security that will keep him off the field. With Travis Etienne and Tank Bigsby at running backs No. 1 and No. 2, Tuten will be a project.
Fourth round - LB Jack Kiser
Another pick that seemed a little out of place with four solid inside linebackers on the roster. Kiser is a hard worker and his best shot as a rookie will be to make an impact on special teams.
Sixth round - LB Jalen McLeod
Everything we said about Kiser applies to McLeod as well. A head-scratcher of a pick for sure, even if it's just a sixth-round flyer.
Sixth round - S Rayuan Layne
We like Rayun Layne as a backup strong safety and he could push Antonio Johnson for the backup spot. Solid prospect and nice value here.
Seventh round - C Jonah Monheim
I thought Monheim would go off the board sooner and have a chance to compete for a starting spot but the Jags are fairly set at the position and he might end up as a practice squad candidate.
Seventh round - RB LeQuint Allen
We like Allen in the seventh round much more than Tuten in the fourth. He might end up playing some wide receiver and could be a great third-down option. It almost feels like the Jags loaded up in the draft to perhaps trade Etienne and if that's the plan, Allen might see an expanded role.
