The 2025 Formula 1 season heads back to the United States for the Las Vegas Grand Prix - the first of race of a triple-header to finish the campaign.

Lando Norris took control of the driver's championship in Sao Paulo when he won both the sprint and the main race to move 24 points clear of McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri in the standings.

Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who was third in the main race at Interlagos, is 49 points behind Norris in third, with a maximum of 83 points available.

The 50-lap race starts at 04:00 GMT on Sunday (20:00 on Saturday in Las Vegas).

Ferrari's Charles Leclerc topped the first practice session while the second session saw Norris go fastest.

Second practice was interrupted and then curtailed by a loose manhole cover on Turn 17, which was discovered about 20 minutes before the end of the session.

What is the Las Vegas weather forecast?

The track action in Las Vegas takes place at night, so conditions in the Nevada desert will be cool. Thursday's first and second practice sessions were largely unaffected by light rain.

Temperatures for qualifying and the grand prix, which both start at 20:00 local time, will be around 12C.

Qualifying could be affected by rain as well as light winds, while Saturday's race should be dry.

Can Norris win the championship in Vegas?

The short answer is no.

If Norris wins in Vegas and Piastri fails to score, the gap between the two drivers would be 49 points with 58 still to play for.

If the above scenario did happen, though, the earliest Norris could secure the title is at the following race in Qatar, which hosts the final sprint event of the campaign.

Norris would need to outscore Piastri by two points in the 100km sprint to be crowned champion.
