“I just keep coming back to it” – Joe Cole once again highlights obvious Chelsea problem

Joe Cole will feel like a broken record as he once again highlights a CLEAR problem that this current Chelsea have.

I am even more passionate about this issue because it is something that I have been saying since the new owners put their ‘project’ in place as well. Many other former Chelsea players, pundits, and fans have been saying the same as well.

Enzo Maresca got snappy last week when a reporter dared suggest that this very young Chelsea side might actually just lack a bit of experience at certain times, but really, he should have acknowledged that actually, yes, maybe it does.

Maresca has taken zero responsibility for his poor subs that he made last night in Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat against Atalanta in the Champions League, and he’s actually doubled down on them.

There were very little positives to take from last night, if any, but Joao Pedro certainly did need the goal he scored in the first half to actually put The Blues 1-0 up in the tie.

Cole speaks truths again

‘It’s really disappointing,’ Cole told TNT Sports after Chelsea’s 2-1 defeat at Atalanta. ‘Chelsea matched them comfortably in the first half and took the lead.

‘But they looked shaky after that and the frailties are clearly there. It’s frustrating.

‘The performances against Barcelona and Chelsea were statements but they’ve followed that up with three below-par performances where the standards haven’t been there.

‘I just keep coming back to it, I feel like there needs to be a bit more experience in the squad to help the team get through these tricky games.

‘The coaches would have told them what to expect tonight and at Elland Road but there’s something about having an experienced player in your team to get you through.

‘Chelsea are just not quite there yet. There’s promise and some great performances but then there’s performances like tonight which drop off.

‘It makes this weekend very, very important because that’s four games without a win now. The Everton game is must-win.’
