Justin Herbert's supporting cast given middle-of-the-pack ranking ahead of 2025 season
The Chargers invested a lot into the offensive side of the ball this offseason, but how does it stack up to the rest of the teams?

The Chargers were active in bringing in players this offseason to put Justin Herbert in a position to succeed this upcoming season.
Los Angeles upgraded one of the interior spots along the offensive line with the signing of Mekhi Becton. They boosted the backfield with first-round pick Omarion Hampton and veteran Najee Harris. They added pass-catchers, with wide receivers Mike Williams, rookie Tre Harris, and tight end Tyler Conklin.
Following the work of general manager Joe Hortiz, the Chargers ranked in the middle of the pack in terms of supporting casts among all 32 NFL teams. They checked in at No. 17 overall, according to Fox Sports' David Helman's rankings.
We’ve got to give the Chargers credit for at least trying to bump the talent level around Justin Herbert. Adding Mekhi Becton to a group that already featured Joe Alt is going to give the Chargers one of the biggest lines in the league, and putting two big backs like Omarion Hampton and Najee Harris behind them is downright nasty. I expect this team to run the ball with grinding physicality as well as big-play potential in 2025, which is exactly what Jim Harbaugh wants. And general manager Joe Hortiz didn’t stop there. Between Mike Williams, Tre Harris and Tyler Conklin, you’d like to think the Chargers have added at least one or two reliable targets other than Ladd McConkey.
In my opinion, the Chargers are in a good spot on the offensive side of the ball. They have a two-headed monster in Hampton and Harris. They have a diverse group of receivers. The tight end room has a couple of proven pass catchers in Conklin and rookie Oronde Gadsden II, while also still having the blocking prowess from Will Dissly.
However, the only positional group that leaves a bit to be desired is the interior part of the offensive line. While the Chargers did sign Mekhi Becton, questions remain regarding the left guard and center positions. Zion Johnson, Bradley Bozeman, and Andre James will be competing for those spots, but it would be wise to add a veteran interior offensive lineman before camp.
