Michigan opens probe into athletic department
The University of Michigan has announced the opening of an investigation into its athletic department amid Sherrone Moore scandal.
The University of Michigan has finally had enough, or so it appears. After yet another scandal stemming from its athletic department, the University has opened up a probe into its athletic department, according to news first reported by the Detroit News (subscription may be required).
It won't be an internal investigation, according to sources cited by the Detroit News and ESPN, but rather an external firm the University has worked with in the past.
Chicago-based law firm Jenner & Block, the same firm that conducted the investigation into Sherrone Moore's conduct, will be retained to look into the culture of the athletic department because of a growing list of misdeeds that includes the Moore investigation and firing, the Connor Stalions advanced sign-stealing scheme, recruiting violations during the COVID-19 dead period, and other misgivings that are almost too many to list.

There is no timetable for this sort of thing, so we don't really know when the probe will be wrapped up or what will be uncovered and shared, but we'll, of course, stay close to it as things unfold.
