Whilst enjoying his season-long loan spell with Bristol City, Radek Vitek does have his heart set on playing for Manchester United when his spell concludes.
Indeed, the highly-rated shot-stopper has revealed that coaches from United have come to watch him ply his trade in Bristol since the term got underway, ensuring he feels like his progress is being tracked and monitored ahead of a potential Red Devils return.
Before joining City in July, Vitek put pen to paper on a new three-year deal with United, suggesting he may indeed have a part to play under Ruben Amorim if he continues impressing from now until next summer.
Czech international Vitek has made 18 Championship appearances thus far and has kept five clean sheets. As per Fotmob, he has averaged a rating of 7.28.
Keeping hold of Vitek could also save United some money come the summer window.
Despite signing Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp in an £18 million deal on deadline day in September, reports have strongly suggested United will look to sanction another goalkeeper’s arrival in 2026.
Not only has Ruben Amorim made it clear with his use of the young ‘keeper that Lammens will now retain the No.1 position, but it’s also anticipated that Altay Bayindir will leave in order to secure a more prominent role elsewhere.
Alas, at that stage, you’d imagine Vitek would be more than ready to play second fiddle to Lammens and be called upon in cup competitions throughout 2026/2027 and beyond.
When asked about his current situation and his future this week, he told Sky Sports: “We’ll see next summer what’s best for me.
“I speak on a regular basis with my goalkeeper coach from Manchester United, who has come here to watch my games, and I have a good connection with them.
“I know they’re watching me, and I really appreciate that I’m not just the guy who is being forgotten or anything.
“Obviously, long term, I would love to play for Manchester United one day, but also I’m realistic and I know that my pathway can lead somewhere different as well.”
