SEATTLE — The Detroit Red Wings used their power play and secondary scoring to make a game of it on their second stop of a six-game trip – and then Patrick Kane put it away.

Kane recorded his 497th career goal with less than three minutes to play against the Seattle Kraken on at Climate Pledge Arena on Saturday, Dec. 6, pulling the Wings into the lead. The Wings went on to win, 4-3, giving them points in four straight games and improving their record to 15-11-3.

Kane scored from the slot off a pass from Alex DeBrincat at 17:31, giving him goals in consecutive games. Emmitt Finnie and Andrew Copp scored go-ahead goals and James van Riemsdyk extended his goal-scoring streak to three straight games when he scored for the fifth time in six games.

Seattle Kraken center Berkly Catton (77) protects the puck from Detroit Red Wings center Nate Danielson (29) during the first period at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Simon Edvinsson blocked a shot in the first period that left him in pain, but he stayed in the game and picked up two assists. Nate Danielson missed a chunk of time after taking a puck to the ankle, and so did Dylan Larkin after the puck deflected into his face during the second period. He returned for the third period with a facial shield on his helmet.

The power play, hot off a 3-for-5 performance in Thursday's 6-5 shootout loss in Columbus, clicked on the first opportunity, with seconds to spare. It was the second unit that did damage, with Axel Sandin-Pellikka picking up the puck along the boards and taking it to the high slot. Sandin-Pellikka passed to Danielson in the left circle; he found Finnie uncovered in the right circle, where the rookie finished the play to pick up his sixth goal of the season, at 7:06 of the first period. Finnie put the puck in Seattle's net again with about four minutes to play, but officials ruled no goal because the play was deemed dead while the puck was under Joey Daccord's pad.

Instead the Kraken tied the game at 16:16 when Jordan Eberle dropped a pass that Brandon Montour fired behind John Gibson from the top of the right circle. The goal spurred the Kraken to take command, spending the last minute-plus maneuvering the puck around deep inside Detroit's zone.

Detroit Red Wings goaltender John Gibson (36) defends the goal against the Seattle Kraken during the second period at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle on Saturday, Dec. 6.

Copp picked up his second goal of the season at 5:10 of the second period when he got a piece of Edvinsson's shot on net. The goal wasn't immediately called – Ryan Lindgren managed to scoop the puck out of the net before the goal judge lit the lamp – but officials reviewed the evidence and soon enough, the Wings had a 2-1 lead. That stood for less than two minutes, as Adam Larsson scored from the top of the right circle at 6:43.

The Wings fell behind at 12:44 when Larsson ripped a slap shot that deflected in off Chandler Stephenson to give Seattle a 3-2 lead, but van Riemsdyk came to the rescue in the final minute. He carried the puck up the right boards and into the circle, faked and fired a shot that gave him his sixth goal of the season.
