PFF reveals Falcons' highest-graded player, biggest surprise of 2025
PFF reveals the Falcons' highest-graded player, biggest surprise on midseason report card
The Atlanta Falcons have been more bad than good through the first eight games of the season, and their 3-5 record accurately reflects this. The only thing consistent about the Falcons thus far has been their inconsistency. We've seen the team defeat the Buffalo Bills on national television, and lose to Carolina Panthers by 30 points.
One week after losing to the Miami Dolphins by 24 points at home, Atlanta was in a position to upset the red-hot New England Patriots on the road. While the Falcons' offensive production has been all over the place this season, they've been able to rely on a few consistent producers.
Running back Bijan Robinson and wide receiver Drake London have done their best to carry the load. Robinson got off to a hot start but has been contained over the last few weeks. London, on the other hand, has been taking his game to another level in recent weeks.
Pro Football Focus released its midseason report card, highlighting each team's highest-graded player and biggest surprise. London is the Falcons' top-rated player through the first eight games.
Falcons' highest-graded player: Drake London
Although Atlanta’s offense has been a rollercoaster this year, London has remained one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. His 89.0 PFF receiving grade is the third-best among receivers with 45 or more targets.-- Bradley Locker, PFF
The former first-round pick has 47 catches for 587 receiving yards and five touchdowns in seven games this season. London has gone over 100 receiving yards in three out of his last four games. Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. tossed three touchdowns to London in Week 9.
As for the Falcons' biggest surprise, linebacker Divine Deablo received that honor.
Falcons' biggest surprise: LB Divine Deablo
Before suffering a forearm fracture that may keep him out for the rest of 2025, Deablo was an anchor on Atlanta’s upstart defense. The 27-year-old played to an 86.0 overall PFF grade — third among qualified linebackers — with a 78.6-plus mark in both run defense and coverage. -- Bradley Locker, PFF
Deablo's absence has been felt by Atlanta's defense over the last few games. The team still has the No. 1 rated passing defense, but opponents have started to hit more big plays without Deablo manning the middle. JD Bertrand has struggled replacing Deablo, but Ronnie Harrison is making the most of his opportunity.
The Falcons will take on arguably the top team in the AFC this weekend, an International Series matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Sunday's game starts at 9:30 a.m. ET in Berlin, Germany.
