Saints keeper McCarthy out after wrist surgery
Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy will miss at least two weeks after having surgery on a wrist injury, says boss Tonda Eckert.
Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy will be sidelined for at least a fortnight after having surgery on a wrist injury, says Saints boss Tonda Eckert.
The 36-year-old has made 10 appearances across all competitions for Saints so far this campaign, keeping three clean sheets.
Eckert said: "He (McCarthy) has a planned surgery, it was planned for yesterday (Monday) but got postponed.
"So he will be having the surgery tomorrow (Wednesday) on his wrist and will be out for a couple of weeks."
McCarthy has been at St Mary's since 2016, making 165 appearances for the club.
His most recent appearance came more than three months ago in the home defeat by Preston on 1 November.
