Stock Watch: who's rising, who needs to find their swagger of season opener vs. Cowboys

After months of waiting, the NFL season is just days away from kicking off, and all eyes will be on Lincoln Financial Field for a Thursday night thriller featuring two of America's favorite teams.

Philadelphia will raise a Super Bowl banner at home against their most hated rivals, the revamped Dallas Cowboys, who'll debut Kenny Clark at defensive tackle following the blockbuster trade that saw Micah Parsons head to the Green Bay Packers. The Cowboys are still loaded on offense, and could have star cornerback Trevon Diggs return to the lineup after a hard-fought return from a knee injury.

Dak Prescott returns to the lineups, and he's dominated the Eagles over the years, and will likely need an explosive offensive performance against one of the NFL's top defensive units. With the first practice of the week set to start, we're looking at whose stock is up and whose stock is down ahead of the season opener.

Stock up -- Jeremiah Trotter Jr.

Trotter Jr. seized his first-team opportunity this summer and is listed as the co-starter at weakside linebacker with first-round pick Jihaad Campbell.

Stock up -- Byron Young

Young was inactive for the first six games of the 2024 season before going on Injured Reserve (hamstring). Still, the 70th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft spent the off-season working on his craft and was solid enough to make the 53-man roster as one of six defensive tackles.

Stock down -- Kelee Ringo

The likely replacement for Darius Slay, Ringo, is no longer listed as a co-starter with Adoree' Jackson; instead, he's listed as the backup to Quinyon Mitchell.

Stock up -- Tyler Steen

Steen is the starting right guard heading into Thursday's regular-season opener against Dallas, earning the former Alabama star a locker in the back, far right corner where the Eagles starters sit.

Stock down -- Andrew Mukuba

Mukuba was able to overcome a shoulder injury to participate in training camp practice. Still, he is now working through a hamstring issue that sidelined him last week, which could make Sydney Brown the starter in Thursday's opener. The Eagles open the regular season against the Cowboys on Thursday, Sept. 4, so Mukuba's practice participation on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday will factor into his chances of suiting up for Week 1.

Stock up -- Gabe Hall

The former Baylor defensive tackle spent his rookie season (2024) on the practice squad, but performed well enough this summer that the Eagles felt comfortable trading Thomas Booker to the Raiders for Jakorian Bennett.

Stock up -- Darius Cooper

Cooper is wide receiver number five on the depth chart after making the Eagles roster over players drafted in 2024 and other key veterans.
