The Dallas Cowboys’ 1990s dynasty created a generation of new fans across America, but don’t consider Post Malone a product of that popularity surge.
The musician wasn’t even a year old when the Cowboys last won a championship, and he wasn’t born in Texas.
As it turns out, though, Post Malone has a strong reason to be a Cowboys fan — and he continues to proudly support Dallas through the ups and downs that have followed the franchise over the past two decades.

Is Post Malone a Cowboys fan?
Post Malone calls himself a lifelong Cowboys fan and frequently sports Dallas gear.
Rooting for the Cowboys was easy for Post Malone: he and his family moved to the Dallas suburbs when he was nine after his father was hired by the franchise. Although he was born in a different part of the country, he quickly became a passionate Cowboys fan.
Post Malone was seen getting kicker Brandon Aubrey to sign his jersey before a Cowboys game against the New York Giants in 2024, appearing on the sideline wearing a cowboy hat.

Where is Post Malone from?
Post Malone was born in Syracuse, New York, but his family moved to Texas when he was nine because his father was hired by the Cowboys.
The five-time American Music Award winner lived in Grapevine, which sits to the north and west of Dallas and north of Arlington, where AT&T Stadium is now located.
Post Malone attended Grapevine High School and continues to show love to his hometown, as he dropped a $1,000 tip at a sports bar in Grapevine when he stopped in during a Cowboys game in October.
In the Cowboys' announcement regarding the halftime show, Post Malone made it clear he considered himself a Texan. "I'm from Texas," he said. "I grew up a Cowboys fan and have been watching this halftime show for years."

What did Post Malone's dad do for the Cowboys?
Post Malone's father, Rich Post, was hired to manage the Cowboys' concessions in 2004.
While features on Post Malone's family indicate his father held that position for a long time, it's unclear when he left the franchise; Rich Post's LinkedIn account indicates he helped prepare for Super Bowl 46 at AT&T Stadium in 2011.
Even as a world-famous musician, Post Malone still leaves time to cheer on his Cowboys and will give the hometown fans — plus the tens of millions watching — a show on Thanksgiving.

Post Malone Cowboys tattoo
Post Malone doesn't have a Cowboys tattoo, which might surprise some given he is known partly for his tattoos, but he promised franchise great Michael Irvin in 2022 that he would get Irvin's No. 88 tattooed on his forehead if Dallas wins the Super Bowl.
While it isn't clear whether that offer only applied to the 2022 season, which certainly did not end with a Cowboys championship, it's hard to imagine there is anything Post Malone wouldn't be willing to do to see his team win the Super Bowl for the first time since he became a fan.
