Former NFL GM on how Colts and Anthony Richardson handle shoulder injury in training camp

A former NFL GM shared his thoughts on how the Indianapolis Colts may approach training camp with quarterback Anthony Richardson, who suffered a shoulder injury during offseason programs.
On an appearance on CBS Sports, Ran Carthon, who was the Tennessee Titans' GM for two seasons recently, provided some insight into how the Colts could monitor Richardson's shoulder in the early going.
"It's going to factor in, and if you guys can remember back in the day, they had the little clicker that counted pitches, they will have someone dedicated in the back of practice counting Anthony Richardson's throws throughout the day. And they're going to limit his throws, and all that does is give Daniel Jones even more reps with the guys, more reps with the ones."
In a recent report from ESPN's Stephen Holder, he said that Richardson is "believed to have recovered from his recent right shoulder setback." Holder also mentioned that Richardson has already been throwing this offseason.

With that said, while it sounds like Richardson will be on the practice field on Day 1 of training camp, we do not know yet what his workload will look like. Holder added that the Colts' training staff still has to evaluate Richardson's shoulder and the possibility of there being a "pitch count" as he ramps up.
Back during minicamp, Shane Steichen alluded to this being a possibility as well, although things certainly could have changed between now and then.
As of now, we do not know what Richardson's workload will look like.
