There are only two days remaining in the open transfer portal window. The only one on the 2026 calendar. As of January 14th, 1,617 players have committed to new teams.

However, that leaves a little over 3,000 yet to commit to new programs. Only 1.15% of players who entered the portal have withdrawn their name.

Of the names that remain, there is only one 5-star and only 19 players with an On3 rating over 90. As would be expected, this list is top heavy with a tier break after player No. 4 on this list.

Caught up in the star before the window closes

While No. 1 through No. 4 are separated by 4.24 star rating points, No 5 through No. 19 are only separated by 1.63 star rating points.

4-star EDGE Darryl Desir from Florida State (93.44 transfer star rating)

What to expect in the final days?

The leaderboard of best available is showcasing the best of what remains, specifically in regards to offensive line, defensive line and safety. While there is a receiver and a tight end, the offensive skill positions are a little thin at that top. Of the top 19 that remain above a 90 transfer star rating, only two of those 19 are coming from outside the Power 4 conferences.

The sad truth about the transfer portal affects those left behind. With only two days left in the portal window and a shade over 3,000 still available, most of these players will not find new teams before the portal deadline.

For the 90 and above club, it seems unlikely those would remain uncommitted to a new team. The bulk of the names on this list should find a home. Which could create an interesting frenzy as the deadline approaches. Could be a good opportunity for teams to at least add depth if not secure a player they might have thought was out of reach for lesser programs when the portal opened.
