Michigan’s five-star RB Savion Hiter earns USA TODAY All-USA Watchlist honor for 2025 season

Michigan football has the No. 10 class in the country according to the 247Sports team rankings. With several top-tier, blue-chip recruits pledged to the Wolverines, the maize and blue are building off of a solid 2025 class with another stellar class in 2026.

While there are a ton of high-end players committed, there is one crown jewel: Mineral (Va.) Louisa County five-star running back Savion Hiter.

Hiter is the highest-rated running back commitment that Michigan football has gotten in the modern era. Rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 8 player in the country, regardless of position, Hiter figures to get an early jump at the college level, even in a room that boasts a lot of talent.

He's thriving at the high school level, as one might expect, and as a result, he's made the USA TODAY HSS 2025 ALL-USA Football Team Watchlist, atop the many tailbacks being monitored.

Savion Hiter, Senior, Louisa County (Mineral, Va.)

Inside the decision: The No. 1 running back in the class of 2026 has posted remarkable stat lines, including 328 yards and three touchdowns against Courtland (Spotsylvania, Va.) and 261 yards and three touchdowns against Matoaca (Chesterfield, Va.).

While no other Michigan commits made the watchlist in earnest, the other five-star in the class -- Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga edge rusher Carter Meadows -- was listed as an EDGE to watch as the year goes on. The Wolverines do have a target on the list, 2027 Indianapolis (Ind.) Lawrence North five-star wide receiver Monshun Sales, the No. 6 player in the country.

Other players who didn't make the list but certainly could have include defensive tackle Titan Davis, wide receiver Travis Robinson (who is blowing up in his senior year), offensive tackle Malakai Lee, and tight end Matt Ludwig.

Here is the recruiting class as it currently stands:
