Oregon receives commitment from former Penn State TE Andrew Olesh
The Ducks have received a big-time commitment from former 5-star tight end Andrew Olesh, who spent his true freshman season at Penn State.
With Terrance Ferguson being drafted in the second round in 2025 and Kenyon Sadiq drawing first-round buzz in the 2026 draft if he declares, the Oregon Ducks under Dan Lanning have established themselves as a favorable program for tight ends.
Former Penn State tight end Andrew Olesh has certainly noticed, as he committed to the Ducks on Sunday after entering the transfer portal a week ago. On3 Sports was the first to report the news.
The 6-foot-5, 226-pounder was rated as a five-star and the No. 3 tight end and No. 46 player overall in the 2025 recruiting class, per 247 Sports. As a transfer, he was rated as a three-star and the No. 22 tight end.
He didn't catch a pass in 2025 for the Nittany Lions, as he was buried on the depth chart behind several veterans.
BREAKING: Penn State true freshman transfer TE Andrew Olesh has Committed to Oregon, he tells @On3Sports
The 6’5 236 TE was ranked as a Five-Star Recruit in the 2025 On300 (No. 1 TE)

Olesh was heavily recruited by the Ducks out of high school, ultimately choosing Penn State over Florida, Michigan, Notre Dame and Oregon. Now, through the transfer portal, he's ended up back in Eugene after one year at Penn State.
The former five-stars' commitment may be a telling sign as far as Sadiq's decision to return to Oregon or declare for the NFL draft, as the Ducks' leading receiver in 2025 would have a significant role if he were to come back for 2026.
The same may be said for Oregon's No. 2 tight end Jamari Johnson, who is also garnering draft buzz after a standout finish to his first year with the Ducks after transferring in from Louisville, though he is widely expected to return.
Offensive coordinator Will Stein deployed significant amounts of 12 personnel this season, and while he's off to be the head coach of the Kentucky Wildcats, the new offensive coordinator could do the same with his potential new tight end pairing of Johnson and Olesh.
The former Nittany Lion and new Duck will have four seasons of eligiblity remaining.
