Quarterbacks rarely get traded in the NFL, and intra-division trades are even rarer, but Joe Flacco made history when the Browns traded him to the Bengals on October 7. In a move that'll impact the Ravens, Browns, and the entire AFC North, the Bengals acquired the quarterback and a sixth-round pick from the Browns for a fifth-round pick.

Flacco joined his third AFC North team since being drafted in 2008 by Baltimore, and he has flourished for the Bengals, who are on a bye and searching for defensive production. With Flacco out, Dillon Gabriel took over the starting spot and has gone 1-4 in those opportunities. On Sunday, Gabriel finished 17-of-32 (53.1%) passing for 167 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. He posted a passer rating of 88.9 in Cleveland's 27-20 loss to the New York Jets (2-7). Asked afterwards if he'd consider a switch to rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders, Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski had this response.

Cleveland traded Kenny Pickett to the Raiders following roster cuts, leaving Gabriel and Sanders as Flacco's backups to open the season. Gabriel was named the No. 2 QB, while Sanders had been the third and emergency signal-caller.
