Who is singing the national anthem at the CFP championship?
This American Idol winner is getting the nod for Monday night's championship game.
The college football season comes to a close Monday night as the Indiana Hoosiers and Miami Hurricanes meet in Miami to decide a national champion. It has been a dream season for the Hoosiers under second-year head coach Curt Cignetti as Heisman winner Fernando Mendoza has led Indiana to a perfect 15-0 record. On the other side of the ball, Carson Beck and the Hurricanes are looking to return to national prominence in their home stadium.
So who is getting things started with the national anthem on Monday night at Hard Rock Stadium?
That would be singer Jamal Roberts, the winner of Season 23 of American Idol.
Roberts, a soul singer, earned a Grammy nomination for his debut song "Heal," and he's sure to wow the crowd with his rendition of "The Star-Spangled Banner".
The pregame performances also include the Florida Memorial University Ambassador Chorale singing "America the Beautiful".
The national championship game between Indiana and Miami kicks off at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
