Leavitt's next career move after exit as Trump's press secretary: Fox News
Former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt’s next career move has been announced.
Leavitt, who left her post in the Trump administration at the end of August, has kept mum about her career plans going forward.
But now, Fox News has announced that the 29-year-old will be joining the network beginning November 1 as an on-air contributor. She is expected to appear on multiple shows on the network, providing commentary across opinion and news programs.
Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement: “Karoline’s firsthand experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail gives her a distinct understanding of today’s political landscape. We look forward to her providing our audience with authentic and sharp insight across all Fox News Media platforms.”
Leavitt added in a statement of her own: “I am grateful for the opportunity to continue appearing on Fox News Channel as an official member of the extraordinary team at Fox News Media. I look forward to bringing my unique perspective from my experience as White House Press Secretary, along with the same energy and candor that defied my tenure, to Fox’s millions of viewers across their many platforms.”
Leavitt announced her departure from the White House in August, just weeks after returning from maternity leave following the birth of her second child. She shares her two children, a son and a daughter, with her husband, Nicholas Riccio, 60.
A replacement for Leavitt has yet to be announced.
In announcing her departure from his administration, Trump wrote in an August post on Truth Social that Leavitt was leaving in order to “spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect.”
Leavitt called the role the “honor and adventure of a lifetime.”
In a lengthy statement on X, Leavitt claimed the U.S. is facing an “existential threat from an increasingly extremist Democrat Party that seeks to destroy everything great about America” as she embraced her upcoming role as a “top advisor” to the president “on the outside” as well as a “vocal advocate for MAGA and the Republican Party.
She continued: “The truth is since returning to the White House after the birth of my daughter, I have felt in my heart that I cannot be the best mom my two young children deserve while devoting the constant time, energy, and attention required of the White House Press Secretary — and that is why I have ultimately made the bittersweet decision to depart the White House and embark on a new chapter in my life.”
Before her time at the White House ended, Leavitt announced that she would return to work for MAGA Inc. She served as a spokesperson for the pro-Trump super PAC before joining Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign and later the White House press team.
News of Leavitt’s Fox gig comes just days after a report indicated that the former press secretary is shopping a book about her tenure to publishers.
